Christmas Severance

from Christmas Severance by The Evictors

about

This is a song I wrote in 2013 when the company I worked for at the time told us the Monday after Thanksgiving that we'd all be out of jobs by the end of the year.

lyrics

Merry Christmas
You don't have a job anymore
Happy New Year
The 31st we're showing you all the door

'Cause we couldn't figure out
How the hell to not be jerks
The inmates ran the asylum
Now we're all looking for work

Why are you upset?
All you ever did was bitch
You always wanted to leave
It's the perfect holiday gift

Happy Hanukkah
We're going out in style
Light your menorah
And collect unemployment for awhile

So keep your receipts
And return all of your gifts
Call up Mom and Dad
Tell 'em you're staying for a bit

And let's raise a toast
Say some things we can't take back
'Cause we put our livelihoods
In the hands of maniacs

Let me make this quite clear
There's no Christmas party here
Or a bonus this year
